Fast engine, limited no-KYC

BitMEX vs Phemex

Phemex built its name on a quick matching engine and thin maker fees, and for a certain type of active trader that is exactly the pitch. But with BitMEX closing on 23 September 2026, the fair question is whether Phemex actually replaces it. On the products, mostly yes. On no-KYC access and geography, there are real limits worth reading before you move a cent. Here is the full field-by-field breakdown.

The short version

Phemex is fast, keeps inverse coin-margined perps, runs up to 100x on BTC and ETH tiered by position size, and charges just 0.01% to makers. The catches: its no-KYC tier caps withdrawals at 0 USDT, so you must verify to take money out, and it blocks both the US and the UK. If you specifically want to trade and withdraw without ID, Blofin is the closer fit and sits at the top of our list. We have no affiliate relationship with Phemex, so this page rates it purely on merits.

Status & Access

Phemex is live and trading while BitMEX counts down. The catch is not availability, it is who gets in: Phemex restricts a long list of countries, and its no-KYC tier is far more limited than the label suggests.

Fees

BitMEX charged a flat 0.05% on both sides. Phemex undercuts that hard on the maker side and shaves more off through VIP tiers and its own token.

Products & Contracts

For BitMEX loyalists, the important line is the inverse perp: Phemex keeps it. Leverage tops out at the same 100x ceiling, though tiered down by position size.

Figures checked July 2026 from Phemex's own materials and public data. "Not disclosed" means we could not verify a current figure, not that it is zero; "Unclear" means the source did not confirm the feature either way. Who should switch from BitMEX to Phemex

Phemex fits a specific trader: someone who wants a fast engine, cheap maker fees and inverse coin-margined perps, and who has no problem verifying their identity. If that is you, and you are not in the US or UK, it is a reasonable landing spot with up to 100x on majors and a low 0.01% maker rate. The honest caveats matter, though. Its no-KYC tier is close to cosmetic, because the withdrawal limit at that level is 0 USDT, so you must complete KYC to take funds out. It also blocks both the US and the UK, and it was hacked in January 2025. If you specifically want to trade and withdraw without handing over ID, Phemex will not do it and Blofin is the closer match. Want a true no-KYC option?

Phemex is quick and cheap, but you cannot withdraw on it without verifying, and it locks out US and UK traders. Blofin is our top pick for people leaving BitMEX who want inverse perps plus real no-KYC access. Set it up before you withdraw so there is no gap.

BitMEX vs Phemex FAQ

Can you trade on Phemex without KYC?

Only in a limited way. The non-KYC tier caps 24-hour withdrawals at 0 USDT, so you cannot get funds out until you verify. A verified individual account then allows up to 2,000,000 USDT per day, and verification takes about 2 to 5 minutes. For a genuine no-KYC withdrawal path, look elsewhere.

Can US or UK traders use Phemex?

No. Phemex restricts both the US and the UK, plus the UAE, several Canadian provinces, Australia, China, Hong Kong and many more. Check your own local rules first; this is not legal advice.

Does Phemex have inverse perps like BitMEX?

Yes. Phemex lists inverse, coin-margined perpetuals next to its USDT markets, with up to 100x on BTC and ETH tiered by position size. That keeps the contract style BitMEX started.

What are Phemex trading fees?

Base futures fees are 0.01% maker and 0.06% taker. VIP 1 runs roughly 0.008% maker and 0.055% taker, and holding the PT token trims futures fees by 10%. Withdrawal fees were not disclosed in our sources.
