About this site
BitMEX Alternatives exists for one reason: BitMEX is closing on 23 September 2026, and the traders who used it need somewhere honest to figure out where to go next. Not a leaderboard of whoever pays the most. A real comparison from someone who actually trades.
Who writes this
Brandon Scotch has traded crypto since 2016. He got his start on Coinbase and Kraken, hit the same walls most traders do, high fees, thin coin access, murky regulation, and kept going deeper. Over the years he has used and tested more than 60 exchanges and over 30 hardware wallets, which is either dedication or a problem, depending on who you ask.
In 2020 he launched OhCryptoBullmarket to put that experience to work and build the resource he wished existed when he was starting out. His writing has been featured in outlets including NBC News and KOIN, where he has commented on crypto updates and regulation. He trades and writes with a hands-on, been-there view rather than a press-release one.
How we research an exchange
Every figure on this site, the fees, leverage caps, KYC rules, country restrictions, Proof of Reserves, comes from the exchange's own materials and public data, gathered with live research in July 2026. When a number could not be verified from a real source, we leave it blank and say "Not disclosed" rather than guess. We do not invent volumes, ratings or reserve figures, and we do not claim a study we did not run.
Derivatives details change constantly. An exchange can cut its fees, change a leverage cap or add a country to its restricted list any week. So we treat this site as a starting point and always link you to the exchange's official page to confirm the live details before you fund an account.
How we make money, and how we do not
Some exchanges here carry a referral link, and we earn a commission if you open an account through it at no extra cost to you. That is how the site is funded. It does not buy a better ranking. Several of the strongest venues in our comparison carry no referral link at all, and we say so on their pages. When our top pick and our paid links happen to line up, it is because the data supports it, not the other way round. The full breakdown is on the affiliate disclosure page.
Not financial advice
This is information, not advice. Trading leveraged crypto derivatives is high risk and can lose you more than you put in. Nothing here accounts for your personal situation, and rules differ by country, so check your local law and do your own research before you trade. If you are unsure, speak to a qualified professional.
